50 Years EFNS - Team Poland
The Association was founded on January 9, 1951. Currently, 8,452 foresters and wood technologists belong to the organization. Polish Foresters were invited to participate in the EFNS competition from the very beginning of their organization. Since 2002 (except 2006 and 2017), Polish foresters have regularly participated at EFNS. In 2001, the Steering Board of SITLiD decided to join the EFNS. At the EFNS meeting in Ramsau am Dachstein (October 27, 2010) SITLiD became an EFNS member and our representative, Dr. Eng. Andrzej Tyrawski was elected Regional Advisor to Central Eastern Europe.
Participation in the EFNS competition is not only a sport, it is also an opportunity to make interesting contacts among foresters and wood technologists, exchange of professional experience and - last but not least - promotion of Polish forestry and wood industry on the international stage. Moreover, participants have the opportunity to learn about the forest management of different regions and countries, as well as their history and culture.
The most successful for Polish sportsmen was the competition in Donovaly, Slovakia (2009). 25 Polish foresters took part in it. Our team has won 5 medals in individual competitions (3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) and also a silver medal in the men's relay.
The Association of Foresters and Wood Technologists, in cooperation with State Forests Holding, will be the organizer of the 52nd EFNS in Duszniki-Zdrój in 2020. We kindly invite you to participate in competitions in Poland!
